ENCOURAGING WORDS FOR YOUR ADULT CHILDREN

It’s important to take every opportunity the Lord gives to speak into the lives of your adult children. Hopefully, you remember conversations with spiritual mentors, maybe even your parents, that helped you when you were struggling with decisions.

In our verse today (Psalm 19:7-8), the Psalmist encourages us, “The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul; The testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple; The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; The commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes.”
Words of encouragement are powerful, especially when they are words the Lord impresses upon your heart to share. The words can be very simple:

  • “You can do it!”
  • “Stay the course.”
  • “Don’t give up.”
  • “I’m proud of you.”

Maybe you have a child who has wandered from the faith, one who is rebellious to the values of the family, or a child who’s hurting through a crisis. You can still tell them worthwhile stories. You can share how God has been real in your life. Let them know they are loved. Encourage them.

IMPORTANT…

Take time today and pray for your family. Ask God to give you words of encouragement to share with them this week. Use some of the words shared above or send them a verse of Scripture that has meant a lot to you over the years.
